About The Position

The Instructional Coach serves as a non-evaluative, job-embedded support for teachers to improve instructional practice and student outcomes. Through coaching cycles, data analysis, and collaborative professional learning, the Instructional Coach builds teacher capacity in standards-aligned instruction, assessment literacy, and equitable practices. This role focuses on improving student achievement through evidence-based instructional strategies, continuous improvement, and strong professional relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education required
  • Valid Missouri teaching certification.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in improving student achievement.
  • Strong knowledge of effective instructional practices, curriculum design, and assessment.
  • Skilled in adult learning, facilitation, and coaching conversations.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret student data to drive instructional improvement.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality in a non-evaluative role.
  • Commitment to equity and improving outcomes for underserved student populations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Experience in an urban school setting preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing, job-embedded coaching (planning, modeling, co-teaching, observing, and feedback) to improve teacher practice and student outcomes.
  • Implement coaching cycles aligned to building and district priorities.
  • Model research-based, standards-aligned instructional strategies, including differentiation and scaffolding.
  • Support teachers in developing and delivering high-quality Tier 1 instruction.
  • Maintain a non-evaluative, confidential partnership with teachers focused on growth and reflection.
  • Support teachers and teams in analyzing multiple sources of student data (formative, summative, benchmark).
  • Assist in using data to inform instructional decisions, intervention planning, and progress monitoring.
  • Collaborate with staff to strengthen assessment literacy and alignment to the Missouri Learning Standards (MLS).
  • Design and facilitate professional learning aligned to district/building goals and DESE expectations.
  • Support Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in using a continuous improvement cycle (plan–do–study–act).
  • Collaborate with administrators, instructional staff, and district teams to ensure coherence in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Contribute to the implementation of district initiatives, including MTSS, curriculum adoption, and instructional frameworks.
  • Promote equitable instructional practices that support diverse learners, including multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
  • Support culturally responsive teaching and inclusive classroom environments.
  • Assist teachers in implementing strategies that increase student engagement, motivation, and ownership of learning.
  • Serve as an instructional leader within the building to support school improvement goals.
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning, including coaching development, research, and collaboration with other coaches.
  • Monitor the impact of coaching efforts on teacher practice and student achievement.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to building and district needs.
  • Maintain professional, ethical, and confidential relationships.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and administration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
