About The Position

Under general direction and through funding provided from Title I, II, III, IV and VI Federal Grants, incumbent(s) coaches teachers in the planning and implementation of the regular and supplemental culturally responsive curricula utilizing differentiated instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students, (specifically for Native American students) designing and implementing classroom management and organizational structures, potentially providing intervention support to students and utilizing assessments and the resulting data to monitor student progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education
  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience
  • Valid Arizona Department of Education Teacher Certificate
  • Demonstrating effective instructional skills
  • Modeling effective classroom management and organizational skills
  • Observing and documenting skills in an objective and accurate manner
  • Applying coaching and feedback skills
  • Demonstrating knowledge of District curricula, assessment, and instructional programs
  • Demonstrating skills with computer applications

Responsibilities

  • Coaches and models for teachers how to implement the curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs in the classroom and how to design and deliver effective instruction for targeted students using culturally responsive strategies.
  • Coaches and models for teachers how to utilize disaggregated student achievement data to plan and deliver instruction and make data-driven instructional decisions.
  • Models student monitoring to ensure that targeted students using culturally responsive strategies are making adequate academic progress.
  • Coaches and conducts demonstration lessons with individual teachers who request or require assistance with instructional strategies, classroom management, lesson design, culturally responsive strategies and accomplishing the objectives established in the school improvement plan or a teacher’s individual growth plan.
  • Provides feedback to teachers in need of assistance with culturally responsive strategies for instructional practices, the use of student data for planning instruction, and the management of the classroom and students, whether supportive or directive.
  • Collaborates and communicates with administration, teachers, and other stakeholders by using established procedures regarding improvement plans, individual growth plans, and school improvement plans with supervisors and targeted teachers.
  • Prepares, presents and facilitates professional development activities and small study groups that support District curricula, instruction, assessments, and the management of space, materials, students, and time.
  • Collaboration with the Safety and Mentoring Department, Academic Support Services (Afterschool Academy), Social Services Department (Social Workers), Transportation, Indian Parent Committee and Community Outreach.
  • After School Academy and Summer Academy responsibilities: budgeting, distributing, hiring, registration, communication with families, provide culturally responsive curricula and transportation requests.
  • Contract vendors responsive to culturally based activities.
  • Works with Native American Families to complete 506 form requirements, identify new families, assist in meeting Title VI compliance requirements, and analyze needs assessment to best meet the needs of our students in the program.
