About The Position

Amplify Caminos is an authentic Spanish language arts program designed for Spanish literacy development. Flexible across transitional, dual-language, and immersion programs, it pairs with Amplify CKLA to deliver a complete, research-based K–2 biliteracy solution. Amplify is seeking an Instructional Coach for Literacy with a background in teaching, coaching and/or school leadership to join our Professional Development (PD) team as a Fixed-Term employee for New York City Public Schools for the 2026-2027 school year. The Instructional Coach will design and lead professional development for school district teachers, administrators and/or instructional leaders across the district utilizing Amplify’s Spanish Literacy products. The Instructional Coach’s primary responsibilities will be supporting educator learning related to instruction, assessment, data use, and early literacy skills in order to increase student achievement. The Instructional Coach’s time will be structured based on NYCPS’s goals and priorities, and will include initial training in program structure and implementation, data analysis after assessment, and ongoing instructional planning. The Instructional Coach will be responsible for supporting a seamless implementation and may provide training district-wide or to individual schools after initial implementation. Coaching supports after initial implementation will be determined in partnership with the district stakeholders by implementation data, demonstrated need and district and school requests.

Requirements

  • Fluent in Spanish (including speaking, reading, and writing) and able to deliver trainings in Spanish
  • Demonstrated experience teaching foundational skills (phonological/phonemic awareness, phonics and fluency) with Science of Reading aligned, high quality instructional materials
  • 3+ years experience leading sustained coaching engagements and professional development for educators in K-5
  • 7+ years of K-5 classroom literacy teaching experience, leading to demonstrable results for students
  • Experience in a dual language or bilingual educational setting working directly in both English and Spanish
  • Experience working on collaborative projects with leaders and teachers
  • Experience analyzing data and using it to inform practice
  • Proven efficacy in time management while managing multiple engagements and competing priorities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology-based productivity tools including Microsoft and Google Applications
  • Able to commute using public transportation or a personal vehicle (approximately 5 days per week) to schools in New York City to support educators onsite in NYC area schools
  • Permitted to work in the US, have residency in the US, and possess a valid US driver’s license.
  • Live within 30 miles of New York City.
  • Reliable home internet that can support video calls on Google Meet and Zoom and a quiet, professional place to deliver remote professional development.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using or supporting Amplify Caminos
  • Ability to support teachers in a remote learning environment, if needed
  • Able to navigate instruction with different Learning Management Systems (Schoology, Clever, Google Classroom, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Amplify CKLA, mCLASS and/or Boost/Boost Lectura a plus
  • Master's or advanced degree in education

Responsibilities

  • Lead professional learning around Amplify Caminos and mCLASS Lectura.
  • Work with groups of educators in schools and districts to enhance implementation, set goals, and plan literacy instruction, based on assessment and implementation data
  • Facilitate trainings for groups of up to 150 teachers and/or leaders
  • Support school leaders in interpreting implementation health, identified areas of need, and planning for school and classroom supports accordingly
  • Observe teacher practice and provide feedback to individual teachers
  • Collaborate with the Amplify team working in the district
  • Communicate thoughtfully and proactively with school and district contacts
  • Consult with and provide school and district contacts with recommendations on how to best support educators using Amplify’s Spanish literacy products
  • Design and communicate strategic supports to educators at key times of the year
  • Support NYCPS parent and community communication regarding the implementation
  • Participate in Amplify coaching meetings and internal trainings
  • Support Amplify’s internal team with the design of standard and custom PD projects that include, but are not limited to: google slide decks, videos, online courses, and participant resources
  • Delivery of remote or in-person training for national customers
  • Build knowledge about other Amplify early literacy programs (CKLA, Boost/Boost Lectura) in order to support a cohesive educator experience across products
  • Proactively seek out feedback and adapt practice based upon what is leading to improved student outcomes
  • Create or customize professional development experiences, as needed
  • Facilitate district-wide professional development sessions (in person and remote), as needed, for leaders and teachers
