Instructional Assistant, Pre Kinder
About The Position
The Instructional Assistant, Pre Kinder assists the teacher with preparing and delivering instruction and managing activities that support student success. The role reinforces instruction with large and small groups, helps maintain a safe and attractive classroom conducive to learning, supervises students, and assists with instructional materials, clerical work, and record keeping. The assistant operates classroom equipment to support instruction, follows McAllen ISD customer service standards, and performs other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor, who is the primary evaluator. There are no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate degree or a minimum of 48 college hours.
- Ability to work cooperatively with students and adults.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English and Spanish and follow written and oral instructions in both languages.
Nice To Haves
- Paraprofessional Certification, preferred but required upon employment.
- First Aid and CPR training.
- Basic computer skills.
- Experience working with children.
Responsibilities
- Reinforce instruction with large and small groups of students.

- Assist the teacher with clerical duties and record keeping.
- Assist with the preparation of instructional materials.
- Operate equipment to augment ongoing instruction by the teacher.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
