Instructional Assistant - Special Education Self Contained at Walter J. Mitchell Elementary School
About The Position
The Instructional Assistant supports instruction and classroom operations in a special education self-contained setting at Walter J. Mitchell Elementary School. The role assists the teacher with planning instructional activities, preparing lessons, and maintaining a safe and orderly environment. It also provides instructional reinforcement to individuals or small groups after the literacy teacher delivers instruction. Regular, on-time attendance is required, and the assistant may be asked to provide substitute coverage as needed. Other related duties may be assigned by the principal. This is a 10-month, non-exempt position. The listed salary scale is UA3, Grade G03–G07.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience working with children.
- Ability to work in an instructional support role with high school- or middle-school-aged children.
- Excellent human relations skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of children's developmental stages.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan developmentally appropriate activities as directed by the literacy teacher.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s degree, 48 college credits, or passing ParaProfessional scores.
Responsibilities
