About The Position

As an Instructional Assistant at Anderson Academy Charter School, you will play a crucial role in fostering student success by providing emotional, social, and academic support. Working within a trauma-informed, inclusive learning environment, you will act as a steady support to teachers, a positive role model for students, and a calming presence that helps learners feel safe, seen, and inspired. Your work will contribute to leveling the playing field and guiding students toward success.

Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree (Education or related field preferred)
• Minimum of two (2) years of classroom experience
• Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
• Strong organizational skills
• Tech proficiency with tools like Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, and LMS platforms
• Empathy and cultural sensitivity
• Teamwork and collaboration
• Problem-solving skills
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth
• Trauma-informed mindset with the ability to apply equity and justice principles daily
• Self-motivation and initiative
• Flexibility and discretion
• Individualized student support and small group instruction experience
• Ability to stay calm and confident in crisis situations
• Valid Driver’s License required

Responsibilities

• Provide small group instruction based on teacher-developed lesson plans
• Support and engage students from diverse backgrounds and with unique learning needs
• Create a positive, encouraging, and trauma-informed classroom environment
• Help maintain accurate student records, attendance, and performance tracking
• Support teachers with instructional planning and content delivery
• Collaborate with school staff to ensure consistency and continuity in learning
• Assist with school events, extracurriculars, and special projects
• Participate in professional development opportunities
• Uphold school policies, regulations, and classroom standards
• Take initiative and learn from mistakes
• May occasionally be assigned other short-term tasks, related to the job, and appropriate to skills and training
