About The Position

The Werklund School of Agriculture Technology (WSAT) is seeking passionate and experienced individuals to join our Instructional Assistant team on a permanent basis to support our various programs related to Agriculture and Environmental sciences! This is a unique role that will support and contribute to a high-quality learning environment for students. There are opportunities to grow into supporting diverse program areas within WSAT including agriculture business, specific agriculture-related science areas, and technology.

Requirements

  • Applicable post-secondary experience to program(s)/subject area(s) in which support is provided, and/or minimum of two (2) years of applicable experience recommended.
  • Familiarity in the following subject area(s) may be a requirement and/or asset depending on the position: Agronomy and crop production, Environmental sciences (water, soil and plant sciences), Livestock production and animal science, Precision and digital agriculture.
  • Experience with the following skillset(s) may be a requirement and/or asset depending on the position: Growing and maintaining plants in a greenhouse or garden setting, Experience with tools and equipment relevant to environmental science (e.g. calibration and execution of use), Livestock husbandry and handling, Experience with agriculture related technologies and software programs (e.g. drones, mapping software, etc.).
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge in using computer applications such as Google Suite (Google Drive, Sheets, Slides, Docs) and Microsoft (Excel and PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to instructors in assigned programs and courses.
  • Support instruction and course delivery by providing course support through set-up preparation, real-time supervision, and clean up after delivery (e.g. labs, lectures and/or tutorials).
  • Ordering, purchasing, collecting and preparing materials and supplies.
  • Maintain and record inventory of materials and supplies.
  • Maintain required records and documentation.
  • Assist in quiz, test or exam invigilation.
