About The Position

Seeking Instructional Assistants, working in Neshamiy Public School District. Interviewing for fall 2026, position starts 08/19/2026. Starting at $21/hour up to $24.50/hour pending higher education and experience in the field or RBT certification. Being an Instructional Assistant at Devereux has its advantages. As an Instructional Assistant you will work with students with autistic support needs within the Neshamiy School District. Reporting to the Special Education Teacher, among other duties, this position will support and maintain classroom policies and procedures, while assisting students by modeling appropriate behavior, providing emotional support, and adopting a patient and friendly attitude. Assist in the implementation of students’ individualized education program (IEP) and positive behavior support plan (PBSP) as directed by the teacher. Assist with student personal needs, when required, including medical needs in conjunction with the school-based health or nursing staff. Participates in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned. Understand team goals and own role within the team. Support team decisions and cooperates with others within and outside the team. Utilize crisis physical intervention techniques under the direction of the teacher and as appropriate to the setting and the degree of threat to the safety of the student and others.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Associates degree required
  • At least one year of experience in an educational setting working required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with individuals with autism and/or other special education populations preferred.
  • RBT certification
