About The Position
Stark State College is seeking a part-time Instructional Assistant for its Medical Assistant Technology Department. Working alongside lead faculty, the assistant will provide hands-on guidance and support to help students develop the skills and confidence needed for clinical laboratory work. The role contributes to the college’s commitment to academic excellence, student success, and community engagement. Candidates selected for employment must reside in Ohio or be willing to relocate to Ohio. Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant; applicants must attach a copy of their certification.
- Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Nice To Haves
- Phlebotomy certification in addition to Certified Medical Assistant certification.
Responsibilities
- Arrive early to set up lab skills and prepare for the day, and stay after class to clean the lab.
- Assist the instructor in observing and correcting students as they practice skills, following the instructor’s demonstrated directions.
- Attend and observe each demonstration, then ensure students perform skills correctly during practice and test-outs.
- Test students on competency skills and assign grades.
- Document positive and constructive feedback on each test-out evaluation form.
- Review test-out assessments and provide students with clear, constructive, and timely feedback.
- Facilitate remediation sessions for students who have not mastered a skill, provide in-depth feedback, and keep detailed records of sessions and student progress.
- Serve as a professional role model for students.
- Be available for open labs as needed.
- Restock exam rooms, transport equipment between the prep room and exam rooms, and notify the instructor when supplies need to be reordered.
- Complete required institutional training and maintain regular email communication.
