About The Position

This position is for an Instructional Assistant - Title I at Frances Brandon-Pickett Elementary. The primary goal is to support student learning, particularly in reading and math intervention, by working with individual students or small groups to reinforce concepts introduced by interventionists. The role also involves assisting with independent study, enrichment, and remedial work, maintaining high ethical standards and confidentiality, participating in required training, and exercising positive problem-solving skills. The assistant will also help supervise students during drills and assemblies, maintain confidentiality of student and staff information, be flexible, and assist teachers in evaluating student progress. Additional job-related duties may be assigned to advance district priorities.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be HQ Paraprofessional with Associate's degree of 60 college credit hours or pass ParaPro Exam.
Ability to monitor and supervise small and large groups of students in a positive manner.
Ability to follow directions and school procedures from the Principal and designated staff.
Ability to operate general office machines.
Ability to organize and to prioritize.
Effective communicator and work cooperatively with others.
Knowledge of and adherence to all policies, regulations and rules.
Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Must pass a background clearance
Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

Nice To Haves

Prefer First Aid and/or CPR certification.
Prefer experience working with elementary level students.

Responsibilities

Works with individual students or groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the reading or math interventionist.
Assists independent study, enrichment work and remedial work for the classroom.
Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information as is expected of teachers.
Participates in in-service training programs as required.
Exercises positive problem solving behavior and conflict resolution skills.
Adheres to the dress code appropriate for the site and job.
Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, and assemblies.
Maintains the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer being employed.
Be flexible
Assists the teacher with evaluation of student progress in relations to established educational objectives.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.
