About The Position

The job of an Instructional Assistant Special Needs is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students in the regular classroom or in a self-contained classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time; assisting in meeting special needs, including feeding, toileting, positioning, monitoring, and behavioral concerns; and attending IEP meetings. This job reports to a Designated Administrator.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification issued by the American Red Cross or any agency authorized by the American Red Cross (WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN 3 MONTHS UPON OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT)
  • Valid First Aid certification issued by the American Red Cross or any agency authorized by the American Red Cross (WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN 3 MONTHS UPON OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT)
  • Employees must maintain up-to-date certifications in CPR and First Aid during employment.
  • Proof of high school graduation or equivalent (GED), OR highest obtained education (Associate degree or above).
  • If you currently hold a valid First Aid and CPR certification, please attach a copy or photo of your certification(s) with this application at the time of submission.
  • If you received your education outside of the United States, you must have your foreign diploma/degree/transcripts evaluated by a transcript evaluation service that certifies that your degree meets the United States equivalency for consideration.
  • ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THE CLOSING DATE.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience working with children in an instructional setting is preferred.
