About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a Hispanic Serving Institution in Laredo, Texas, is hiring an Instructional Assistant Professor of Physics to begin in Fall 2027. This is a non-tenure-track, fixed-term faculty appointment for three years, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and/or departmental or institutional needs. The position requires regular attendance on campus and face-to-face interactions in the workplace. The primary responsibility is teaching 15 semester credit hours per semester through introductory Physics and Astronomy lectures and laboratories for science and non-science majors. The position also includes service on departmental, university, and professional committees; participation in initiatives; and community outreach, particularly activities that advance the disciplines and support recruitment efforts in the Department of Mathematics and Physics. The successful candidate must hold an earned doctorate in Physics or a closely related discipline. ABD applicants will also be considered, provided they earn the doctorate by August 16, 2027. Previous Physics and Astronomy teaching experience at a similar institution is strongly encouraged, and experience in outreach and community engagement is preferred. The university offers competitive salaries, benefits, additional pay for summer teaching, financial support for professional development such as academic conference attendance, and moving expenses covered in whole or in part. Applications must include a cover letter or letter of interest addressing qualifications, a current CV, unofficial transcripts indicating the conferred or ABD degree, and contact information for three current professional references. All positions are security-sensitive; applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent on credential and other required verification.
