The Center for Civic Engagement at Illinois State University, which oversees the Civic Engagement and Responsibility Minor (an Interdisciplinary Studies Minor), is seeking to establish a pool of non-tenure track instructor applicants for the 2025-2026 academic year. Applications are reviewed as vacancies arise, and there may not be an immediate opening at the time of application. These positions are part-time and may be for a single semester, depending on the School's requirements. The Civic Engagement and Responsibility minor is an interdisciplinary program designed to help students develop an awareness of personal social responsibility, engage in active community involvement, and enact social change. Students in the minor collaborate with community partners to foster a more just and equitable world, sharpening their analysis of social issues, practicing public problem-solving skills, reflecting on civic engagement experiences, and committing to ethical civic action. The minor also offers an Urban Teacher Preparation concentration for teacher education majors interested in teaching in urban communities. The Center for Civic Engagement supports the university's core value of civic engagement through various programs, resources, and administrative support for initiatives like the American Democracy Project and the Civic Engagement and Responsibility minor. The Center is particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the University's core values and can contribute to its vision of a more just and equitable world, especially those with experience collaborating with diverse faculty, staff, students, and community partners to promote inclusivity and equity.
