About The Position

The Adair County School District is seeking a qualified candidate to assist teachers in providing instruction to individual or small groups of students, monitor and report student progress. Under the direction of certified teachers/administration, the Instructional Assistant provides support for classroom teachers and assists with daily needs in the building.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED or enrolled in GED program.
• Ability to develop a positive, professional relationship with students, teachers, administrators and parents.
• Willingness to receive training from school health professionals and perform allowable medical services as necessary.
• Availability to participate in training sessions.
• Willingness to participate in non-teaching assignments and extra-curricular activities that are related.
• Successful completion of all required employment forms and applications.
• Ability to implement approved job description.
• Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; or Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degrees; or Met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in providing instruction to individual or small groups of students.
• Monitor and report student progress.
• Provide support for classroom teachers.
• Assist with daily needs in the building.
• Assist students in personal care needs, including toileting and catheterization if required.
• Render health services as necessary after appropriate training.
• Participate in non-teaching assignments and extra-curricular activities that are related.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or program director.
• Use professional and respectful communication to students and all faculty members while performing job duties.
