About The Position

The Instructional Aide will work as an assistant teacher under the direction of the classroom teacher and principal. The aide will assist the classroom teacher with planning, developing, and providing a creative learning environment focused on high academic achievement, excellence in teaching, respect for differences, and collaborative relationships. They will assist the teacher in providing daily activities, which integrate learning across the curriculum. They will work with pupils individually and in small group activities. In addition, the instructional aide will assist in the documentation of pupil progress, making/preparing instructional materials, and performing other duties as designated by the classroom teacher and principal. The aide will also assist the teacher with recess supervision.

Requirements

• Minimum of Associates degree, or 48 college credits.
• Previous successful classroom experience with students in an urban, multicultural setting, preferably at the elementary level.
• Demonstrated ability to respect diversity and help children develop a positive self-image as successful learners.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Previous coursework in the education of elementary-grade children is preferred.
