About The Position
This position involves providing one-on-one support to students within a special education (SPED) setting. The Instructional Aide will assist the teacher in various classroom activities, including material preparation, testing administration, and maintaining a positive learning environment. The role requires effective communication and the ability to work closely with individual students.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education
- Obtained an associate’s degree or higher
- Meet a rigorous standard of quality test
- Ability to work well with children and in a 1-on-1 setting
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Experience working with children
Responsibilities
- Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
- Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups or whole class.
- Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
- Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
- Attendance is an essential job function.
