About The Position

Performs a variety of classroom support and student personal care services as directed under the supervision of a classroom teacher. This role involves supporting students in grades K-2, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment, and assisting teachers with instructional goals.

Requirements

Ohio Department of Education aide certificate.
Meets mandated state and federal qualification Qualifications: (i.e., completion of requisite higher education credit hours/courses, approved degree, or successful passage of a sanctioned professional standards test).
Meets all mandated health requirements.
A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.
Consistently dependable.
Flexible outlook.
Accepts new responsibilities/assignments willingly.
Ability to physically assist students with disabilities (e.g., mobility, transferring, positioning, etc.).
Ability to interact comfortably and confidently with the public.

Successful completion of communicable disease, child abuse/neglect, behavioral management, CPR, and/or first aid may be required as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Checks with the teacher for instructions and works with small groups or individual students.
Help supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and during field trips.
Provide support to students with diverse learning needs.
Upholds board policies and follows administrative guidelines, referring questions to supervisors.
Monitors students on an emergency basis when the teacher is absent.
Advances the district’s professional image and promotes effective communication.
Facilitates community partnerships and school activities that enhance student learning.
Helps students with remedial and enrichment activities, reinforcing instructional goals.
Responds to student requests for assistance while maintaining discretion.
Supports an inclusive environment for students with disabilities.
Supervises rest periods and maintains confidentiality of student information.
Takes precautions to ensure student safety and manage risk factors.
Upholds the student conduct code and participates in crisis training to manage outbursts.
Maintains a clean and organized learning environment.
