About The Position

An instructional aide assists teachers in managing classroom activities, and supporting students’ academic and social development. This role involves working with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning concepts, maintaining an organized, safe classroom environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and ability to work with diverse learners
  • Basic understanding of instructional methods and child development.
  • Understanding of diverse learning needs and classroom management practices.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience as an instructional aide or related role preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated ability to engage students’ emotional intelligence and support students with a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and learning styles, using a trauma-informed approach
  • Demonstrated ability to embody a commitment to anti-racist work and advancing community and justice in our educational system
  • Demonstrated commitment to creating a culture of well-being and collaboration for all students with the goal of creating empowered learners, ethical and global citizens, and resilient individuals
  • Demonstrated flexibility and problem-solving skills in order to work as a productive team member
  • Understanding and commitment to multi-age groupings
  • Support teachers in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities
  • Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students
  • Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Prepare and organize instructional materials and classroom resources
  • Supervise students during non-instructional times (e.g., lunch, recess, transitions)
  • Provide specialized, targeted academic support to students, particularly those with individualized education programs (IEPs), 504 plans, behavior intervention plans (BIP).
  • Required to support aftercare programming on half days and on days when the school is closed but aftercare services are in operation.
