About The Position

Samueli Academy is a non-profit 7-12 public charter school in Santa Ana, CA. Our mission is to ignite the passion within all students to reach their greatest potential through a nurturing and innovative learning environment. Samueli Academy offers youth an innovative and student-centered choice for their education. The Instructional Aide will serve as additional support for the Student Services Coordinator. The Instructional Aide will collaborate with teachers and specialists to assess and support students academically. The Instructional Aide will enforce safe behaviors and enhance social growth of all students.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or 48 units of college required.
  • Knowledge of basic subjects taught in schools including arithmetic, reading, and writing.
  • Knowledge of general needs and behavior of children with disabilities.
  • Experience working with students.
  • Basic first aid principles.
  • Basic record-keeping and organization techniques.
  • Experience collaborating and working with a team.
  • Possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
  • DMV clearance.
  • Pre-employment screenings include criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test, drug screen, and previous employment verification.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience working in a similar position preferred.
  • Bi-lingual/bi-literate English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support students within the general education classroom, and in small groups or 1:1 sessions outside of the general education classroom.
  • Support in the implementation of lesson plans, prepare instructional support materials for small groups and support, guide small groups, and provide learning assistance and individualized support to students in Special Education and with 504 support plans.
  • Develop appropriate accommodations or support in the development of accommodations for general education assignments and assessments.
  • Work 1:1 with students depending on their individualized needs.
  • Support providing direct input and progress monitoring to support IEP planning and development.
  • Document the progress of students, track service minutes provided, implement grade checks with focus groups and support with student and family communication.
  • Perform clerical duties such as, preparing necessary materials, operating office equipment, making and answering phone calls as necessary and keeping to a schedule.
