Part Time Instructional Aide
About The Position
Merritt Academy is looking for experienced Instructional Aides to work with children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. The Instructional Aide is responsible for providing classroom and clerical support to teachers. The Instructional Aide will instruct students as needed, assist with lesson preparations, and supervise students in the teachers’ absence. Additional clerical work with administrators may be assigned as needed. The Instructional Aide is responsible for performing all professional tasks in a manner that exemplifies school standards of courtesy and values. We seek candidates who are flexible and willing to take any assigned tasks and to work with various age groups. We also seek candidates who exhibit professionalism, pride in work, initiative, a strong work ethic and who support parents as partners in education.
Requirements
- Experience working in education
- A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day.
- High school diploma preferred.
- Must be physically able to engage in physical activity with children, and work indoors or outdoors.
- Must be able to constantly move and interact with the children to provide stimulation and develop relationships.
- Must be able to alternate often between sitting and standing.
- CPR and First Aid certified or willingness to obtain.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Pass pre-employment screenings and trainings as required.
Responsibilities
- Work in the classrooms with groups or individual students as directed
- Assist teachers with monthly bulletin board changes
- Provide clerical support such as laminating, filing, and copying
- Escort classes to specialties
- Escort students anywhere on the school grounds when necessary
- Supervise students during after-school programs, lunch periods and recess
- Provide assistance with homework assignments
- Escort students anywhere on the school grounds when necessary
