This position is responsible to and functions under the direction of the classroom Teacher. The Instructional Aide/Teaching Assistant will assist the teacher in the delivery of instruction and the implementation of IEP Goals and objectives. The role ensures the safety of the students in all environments and assists in facilitating independence, social awareness, language, and appropriate behavior. The aide also supports the teacher in the inclusion of students with special needs into the mainstream school and in the collection of data. Participation in training in relevant areas is expected. A key responsibility includes driving students to work. Employment is contingent upon passing a SAFIS fingerprint and CORI screening.
