About The Position

Alma School District is actively seeking an experienced, talented and dynamic individual to join our highly successful and progressive schools. The goals and objectives for our classroom instructional aides include supervising children, teaching small group activities and supporting the classroom teachers. Our ultimate goal is to develop student capacity for problem solvers and prepare students for their future career and life beyond Alma School District. The candidate will also devote his or her energies and efforts toward learning experiences designed to fulfill students’ intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth in a safe environment.

Requirements

  • Provide a college transcript containing 60 or more college hours and/or a passing score on the ETS Paraprofessional Exam (the exam may be provided at our Administrative offices)

Responsibilities

  • Supervises students in and out-of-classroom during the assigned work day
  • Supervises and supports a safe learning environment, as well as a safe recess environment.
  • Strives to assist in improvement of students’ academic performance, social emotional learning, physical skill development and in helping students’ with decision making
  • Assists the school, i.e., administrators, teachers, students and support staff, to reach their academic and behavioral benchmarks and goals
  • Under the direction of a certified teacher, contributes to the teaching and achievement of skills, performance standards and outcomes
  • Promotes and assists in a classroom environment by supporting lessons that are conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students (including differentiation and engagement)
  • Assists in the uses of technology to help students produce projects to demonstrate their understanding and skill attainment
  • Provides opportunities, when needed, for individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student; includes the capacity to recognize the need for intervention
  • Supports, assists and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive and engaging classroom environment
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
