About The Position

The Instructional Aide Kindergarten will work under the supervision of the regularly employed teacher to assist in directing the learning experiences of pupils in all school-sponsored activities. This role involves following school and board policies and assisting with both instructional and non-instructional classroom duties. A key aspect of this position is supporting student learning through small group work, reinforcing concepts, and assisting with independent study and remedial efforts. The aide will also handle clerical duties, prepare and supervise classroom activities, and serve as a resource for substitute teachers. Additionally, the role includes administering medication and other health services as instructed by a health professional.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Passing score on Paraeducator Test

Responsibilities

  • Works with small groups of students to reinforce learning.
  • Performs clerical duties similar to those of a regular teacher.
  • Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work.
  • Sets up and uses audio-visual media.
  • Assist teacher with instructional and non-instructional classroom duties.
  • Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work.
  • Assists in drill work.
  • Assists small groups of students in the library and other special areas.
  • Prepares, performs, and supervises with regular classroom teacher for all classroom activities.
  • Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities.
  • Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Works as a team member under the supervisor of the regularly employed teacher.
  • Checks and records student’s daily attendance and academic progress, but confers with regular teacher before cumulative grades are recorded.
  • Participates in In-Service Training programs and any scheduled faculty activities.
  • Perform administration of medication and other health services such as tube feeding and catheterization, as instructed by a health professional.
  • Performs such other duties as assigned.
