About The Position

The Instruction & Research Librarian supports student learning and academic success through information literacy instruction, research support, and collaboration with faculty and campus partners. The position develops and delivers library instruction, creates learning resources, provides research assistance, and contributes to collection development and assessment. Working closely with the Library Director and Reference & Access Services Librarian, this role helps advance the teaching, learning, and research mission of Keuka College.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Experience providing information literacy instruction and research/reference services in an academic library.
  • Experience collaborating with faculty on curriculum, assignments, or research instruction.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to student-centered service.
  • Proficiency with library technologies, instructional technologies, and digital research tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and collaboratively, and serve a diverse college community.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, accurate records, and compliance with institutional requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience creating online instructional materials, tutorials, videos, or LibGuides.
  • Familiarity with information literacy frameworks and active-learning pedagogies.
  • Experience supporting AI literacy, digital literacy, or emerging technologies.
  • Experience with collection development or assessment.
  • Experience supporting assessment, program review, or accreditation efforts.
  • Experience working in a small college and/or liberal arts environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty and the Library Director to design and deliver information literacy instruction aligned with course and program outcomes.
  • Provide in-person and online instruction across disciplines and academic levels.
  • Develop instructional materials on research strategies, source evaluation, scholarly resources, citation practices, ethical information use, and AI literacy.
  • Create and maintain tutorials, videos, LibGuides, and other learning resources.
  • Assess library instruction and use results to improve teaching and services.
  • Provide research assistance and reference services in person and online.
  • Conduct research consultations and guide users in finding, evaluating, and using information effectively and ethically.
  • Develop and maintain research guides and related resources.
  • Promote library research services and resources across the College.
  • Partner with faculty to integrate information literacy, research skills, library resources, and emerging technologies into courses and assignments.
  • Consult on assignment design and effective research practices.
  • Maintain relationships with academic departments and collaborate with campus partners to support student success.
  • Participate in campus initiatives, programs, and events that advance learning and academic achievement.
  • Participate in collection development for assigned subject areas.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend resources that support curricular and research needs.
  • Assist with collection assessment, weeding, and ongoing collection management.
  • Collaborate with library staff on collection priorities and resource management.
  • Promote library services, resources, and instruction through outreach and presentations in coordination with the Reference & Access Services Librarian.
  • Support initiatives that increase awareness and use of library services.
  • Contribute to programs and activities that foster student learning and engagement.
  • Collaborate with FYE, SYE, and other student-success initiatives as appropriate.
  • Maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.
