About The Position

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is seeking an Instruction and Research Librarian to join the Kraemer Family Library. This role is a 12-month faculty appointment within the Learning, Research, and Engagement Department. The librarian will provide information literacy instruction and research assistance in various formats to the UCCS community. The position may involve developing, delivering, and promoting library services, and taking on other assigned duties. Scholarly/Creative Work is not required for this position. UCCS is located at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs, a city known for its stunning landscapes, history, arts, and vibrant tech scene. Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library school completed by position start date is required.
  • Experience or coursework in instruction or instructional design (instructional experience in public library or K-20 setting will be considered).
  • Must have experience or coursework in providing reference or research assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an academic library in any position (student employee, staff, practicum, etc.) OR coursework in academic librarianship is preferred.
  • Highly qualified applicants will have experience providing research support, information literacy instruction, or collection development in the subject area of education OR educational background in the subject area related to education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in person and/or online information literacy instruction in the First-Year Rhetoric and Writing Program, Gateway Program Seminar, and library workshops. This may include night and weekend classes.
  • Provide general research assistance service in-person and through remote formats.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of online learning materials.
  • Assist with assessment of library instruction and research assistance activities.
  • Serve as a liaison to academic divisions or departments in the College of Education or other assigned area providing collection development, library instruction, and research assistance.
  • Participate in the development of policies, procedures, and goals for the Learning, Research, and Engagement department and the Kraemer Family Library.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the academic or campus community through library, campus, CU System, or professional service activities.
