About The Position

Arizona Autism Charter Schools (AZACS) is seeking a highly-skilled Instruction and Alignment Coach to oversee curriculum and instruction in severe and profound classrooms. This role supports and trains instructional and behavior staff in implementing AZACS's adopted curriculum and best practices within the AZACS Structured Classroom Model. The coach will work with school leadership to foster a positive school culture focused on best practices for students on the autism spectrum. AZACS is an award-winning institution recognized for its innovation and transformational educational programs for students with autism.

Requirements

  • Experienced in the correct design, implementation, and oversight of research-based educational strategies for students with disabilities
  • Experienced in ABA teaching strategies
  • Significant experience conducting these activities within school settings
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Ability to train, coach, and motivate instructional staff
  • Valid Arizona SPED Teaching Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • 5 years of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
  • 3 - 5 years teaching special education
  • 1 - 2 years of managerial experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis(ABA)
  • Experience in structured teaching, center-based model
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working with students with severe disabilities, including students on the autism spectrum

Responsibilities

  • Manage educational programming
  • Coach and mentor classroom teachers in a structured classroom
  • Maintain knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices
  • Oversee AZACS-adopted curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Oversee staff in creating a safe learning environment
  • Oversee accommodations and modifications to the adopted curriculum
  • Curriculum development
  • Provide professional development for classroom teachers and instructional lead teachers on curriculum planning and implementation
  • Conduct observations and provide coaching to instructional staff
  • Analyze curriculum data bi-weekly to make instructional decisions
  • Train and oversee structured teaching planning, organizing, and implementing
  • Manage staff communication and feedback
  • Collaborate with ABA Managers for behavior and/or data analysis
  • Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
  • Collect, analyze, and report data in a meaningful manner
  • Celebrate student achievements and successes
  • Assist with the onboarding and training of new teachers
  • Conduct weekly lesson plan checks and provide feedback for alignment with curriculum and state standards
  • Maintain consistent and regular attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
