Requirements

  • A valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Corrective Lenses Restricted license are acceptable provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating a state vehicle.
  • Must be willing to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency.
  • Must be willing to work beyond the normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels and meet the needs of the Agency.
  • Must maintain certification in Prevention and Safety Strategies (PASS).
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

  • This position may be required to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency per APD OP 2-0035.
  • This position is critical to the safety and supervision of residents and may require the incumbent to work beyond their normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels in the facility.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures required in security.
  • Knowledge of computer applications i.e., Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing).
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Ability to transfer calls using a switchboard console.
  • Ability to maintain certification in Prevention and Safety Strategies Training (P.A.S.S.).
  • Ability to maintain certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Direct Care In-Service (DCI).
  • Skills in exercising good judgement.
  • Skills in situational awareness.
  • You may be required to provide your Social Security Number to conduct required verifications.
  • Male candidates born on or after October 1, 1962, will not be eligible for hire or promotion in the Career Service, or appointment in the Selected Exempt Service (SES) or Senior Management Service (SMS) unless they are registered with the Selective Service System (SSS) before their 26th birthday, or have a Letter of Registration Exemption from the SSS.

Responsibilities

  • Patrols the grounds to ensure unoccupied buildings are secured, looking for potential hazards or suspicious activity.
  • Controls access to Tacachale, processes outgoing and incoming resident trips, assists emergency responders, and responds to all calls for assistance center wide.
  • Answer incoming calls, connect callers to desired parties, documents resident incident reports, maintain several logs, monitor the fire alarm panel, and notify officers as necessary.
  • In emergencies, contacts the appropriate staff.
  • Compiles and prepares reports, both manually and via computer.
  • Assist or perform routine fire drills as required.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections weekly, with cursory inspections daily.
  • Maintains cleanliness and condition of security vehicles.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
