About The Position

The Institutional Research Strategic Data Analyst plays a critical role in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to support strategic planning, daily operations, and data-informed decision making. This role also provides technical assistance, programming, and reporting services of college data and ensures accurate and timely data reporting to state and federal agencies, internal units, and external organizations. This is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt professional staff position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Requirements

  • Associate degree with Bachelor’s preferred in computer science, economics, mathematics, statistics, information science, business analytics or related field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in querying, validating, analyzing, and reporting data.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills required, along with the ability to work collaboratively across all areas of the institution.
  • Ability to communicate complex data, concepts, and findings clearly to a wide variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experience with data querying, analysis, and presentation tools required
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education and with Jenzabar One preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL, Power BI, Power Query, and advanced Microsoft Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, report, and present data extracted and synthesized from a variety of complex internal and external data sources as needed for improved data-informed decision-making and planning across the institution.
  • Utilize SQL, Power BI/Power Query, InfoMaker, Excel, and other related software and programming to develop, maintain, and update basic queries and reports against the institution’s internal data to fulfill recurring data needs for internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Create statistical and analytical reports, dashboards, and data visualizations as needed for improved data-informed decision-making and planning across the institution.
  • Assist with the preparation, validation, and reporting of official institutional data to both external and internal stakeholders including required state and federal reporting.
  • Coordinate with offices across the institution to address institutional data integrity and reporting compliance.
  • Serve as an institutional data and information resource for campus initiatives, projects, and committees to support a data-informed approach to planning, evaluation, and decision-making
  • Maintain appropriate documentation such as data sources, file locations, query logic/methodology, tools, and issue/problem resolutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
