About The Position

The Institutional Engagement Liaison (IEL) assists the Vice President for Community and Global Impact (VPCGI) and the Office of Community and Global Impact (OCGI) to promote fair access and opportunity for all students and employees equipping them with the preparedness to engage and thrive in their learning, leadership and service within the communities they are part of at the local, state, national, and global level. The IEL will support the university’s vision to demonstrate understanding and commitment to people, place, and perspective to help advance policy, programming, and practice at Adams State and in the San Luis Valley. The desired outcome of this position is to promote an increasingly welcoming and supportive environment for students, faculty, and staff regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, socioeconomic status, age, religious affiliation, abilities/disabilities, and other social identities. The IEL will assist the VPCGI with organizing current programming such as state and/or federally recognized observances, Kindred Spirits luncheons, and global experiences and exchanges throughout the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. The IEL will also assist with scheduling and promoting Safe Zone, Embracing Empathy, and Green Dot educational workshops to ensure they are regularly offered to our campus community to support their professional practice and growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education, student affairs, organizational leadership, or related field.
  • Experience working effectively and collaboratively with pluralistic faculty, staff and student populations
  • Understanding the relevance and importance of people, place, and perspectives as it relates to our university and surrounding communities
  • Training in cross-cultural empathy and leadership
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Adams State University is unable to provide sponsorship, transfer, or support for employment visas (such as H-1B, TN ect.) for this specific opening.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a campus resource for the Office of Community and Global Impact (OCGI)
  • Organize and support OCGI campus events and programming
  • Organize professional development and trainings for the OCGI
  • Collaborate with campus and community partners and stakeholders to support and integrate OCGI initiatives for greater reach and impact
  • Support effective programs and services in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Assist the VPCGI with other duties as assigned
