About The Position

This position requires a rotating schedule, including weekend availability. Shifts typically range from 5:00 AM (earliest start) to 6:30 PM (latest end), depending on program needs. The cook will ensure the smooth functioning of the kitchen and the serving of 60 nutritious and appealing meals 3x/day for children who live at Lydia Home, keeping in compliance with all regulations. The cook will maintain a clean and orderly kitchen work environment and routinely introduce new foods and tastes to enhance life-long healthy eating.

Requirements

• Food service experience as a cook or chef
• Must have or obtain required food service certifications
• Must be able and willing to support the mission of Lydia Home Association (LHA)
• Must be organized
• Must have a warm, welcoming and engaging personality
• Ability to lift 50 pound boxes and carry up/downstairs

Responsibilities

• Plan menus and cook nutritious and appealing meals for up to 60 people
• Order food and supplies using email and web
• Ensure and help with general kitchen cleaning
• Keep control of inventory and receiving food service orders
• Unload trucks and carry cases of food downstairs
• Collaborate with residential leadership
• Other duties as assigned
