About The Position

The Chaplain oversees all aspects of religious programming at Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility (IBC). The Chaplain is responsible to plan, develop, implement, coordinate, and regularly evaluate all religious programming and activities of IBC. Chaplains provide spiritual and religious resources and counseling for the entire prisoner population and sets the tone for the pursuit of righteousness, excellence and truth among each person and faith group.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in religion, theology, divinity, or in an area of human services such as guidance and counseling, social work, criminal justice, etc.
  • Three years of professional experience as a religious leader either in a community or institutional setting equivalent to an Institution Chaplain, including one year equivalent to an Institution Chaplain P11.
  • Certification or endorsement by the recognized endorsing body of the religious faith.
  • Identify specific work experience for each position held including the beginning and ending dates of employment (month and year, hours worked per week).
  • Provide at least three professional references and their contact information (phone number and email address). Current MDOC employees must include their current supervisor as one of three professional references.
  • Complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) (40 or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on offender contact and job classification) and additional online training.
