About The Position

A1 Garage Door is seeking high-performing individuals to join their team as Installer Apprentices. This role is physically demanding and requires stamina and enthusiasm. While prior experience with garage doors is not necessary, the company provides comprehensive training on installation, customer service, and market thriving. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, organized, methodical, clean, enjoys helping people, takes pride in their work, and is described by peers as handy, reliable, and trustworthy. They should be self-motivated, enjoy working autonomously, and be able to work quickly and efficiently. Previous experience in similar industries such as window and door installation, flooring, carpentry, kitchen installation, or furniture/fixture/bike assembly is a plus. Candidates who prefer not to interact with customers, dislike manual labor, are not weather-resistant, or are unwilling to apply learned skills with enthusiasm should not apply.

Requirements

  • 21 years old and valid driver’s license (3+ years driving record)
  • Able to bend, climb, kneel and stand for long periods
  • Physically able to lift 75lbs, lift garage door panels above head
  • Able to stand on ladder
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools (Power drill, hammer, saw etc.)
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test (not including THC) and criminal background check
  • Knowledge of basic software such as navigation apps, Google etc. as well as tablet and computer use
  • GED or HS diploma not required, however reading skills as well as basic math skills (measurements, payments) are required
  • Professional & approachable appearance
  • Current eligibility to legally work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Worked in similar industries, performing installation or assembly (Windows & doors, flooring, carpentry, kitchen installation, furniture/fixtures/bike assembly etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Install new garage doors for residential customers
  • Remove existing door and mechanical parts
  • Replace worn or broken door parts using tools
  • Assemble mechanical parts
  • Install springs, sections, slats, and hardware
  • Run wiring to connect equipment
  • Lubricate and test mechanical parts for proper functioning
  • Educate customers on upgraded parts and services and ensure satisfaction
  • Document activities related to installations
