About The Position

The Refrigeration Installation / Startup Technician is responsible for performing start-up and functionality checking on newly installed HVAC, plumbing and electrical components, equipment and systems. This role involves checking newly installed equipment for operation in accordance with engineering or factory specifications, ensuring all components and systems are installed per applicable city and trade code, and working directly with other subcontractors or vendors to ensure proper operation of equipment. The technician will interpret drawings, identify errors/omissions, and advise the appropriate supervisor. They will also install, connect, or adjust thermostats, humidistats, sensors, controllers, and mechanical parts related to the plans. Disassembling and reassembling commercial mechanical and plumbing equipment for troubleshooting and preventative maintenance is also a key function, along with ensuring newly installed equipment is level and aligned. Explaining work performed to the customer's satisfaction, and performing startup and commissioning of building automation and refrigeration systems as necessary are crucial. The role includes providing installation of controls to ensure complete operation of newly installed and existing equipment and building automation and refrigeration systems. Diagnosing HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and/or electrical system performance through observation, testing, and setup is required. Additionally, the technician must complete necessary documents accurately and timely for customer invoicing and EPA requirements. The ability to read and comprehend plans and blueprints regarding the installation of cabling, communication loops, and components for energy management and refrigerant leak systems is essential. Maintaining and managing truck inventory and adhering to vehicle maintenance guidelines are also part of the responsibilities. This position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal guidance and direction, and the ability to lead others on a project.

Requirements

  • High School OR Ten years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 year of exp with HS/GED
  • EPA 608 Certification level 3
  • Valid Driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Physically able to climb ladders, work at high elevations and lift objects up to fifty pounds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, detail oriented and highly motivated.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and out of town as required.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple, competing priorities/task in a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Complete necessary documents in a thorough, accurate and timely manner to complete necessary customer paperwork for invoicing and EPA requirements.
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans and blueprints as appropriate to trade regarding the installation of all cabling, communication loops, and components associated with the installation of energy management and refrigerant leak systems.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specifications, contract documents, control drawings, service bulletins, technical procedure manuals, equipment specifications, and governmental regulations.
  • Maintain and manage truck inventory in an accurate, neat and orderly manner as well as adhere to vehicle maintenance program guidelines (If applicable).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal guidance and direction.
  • Able to lead others on project.
