About The Position

This position provides coverage and monitoring for Head Start students in various settings including the bus, cafeteria, and classrooms. The role involves ensuring student safety, adhering to program standards, and maintaining required adult/child ratios. The position is for up to 6.5 hours per day, 186 days a year (9.5 months), with an hourly rate of $12.53. Benefits include group insurance programs, PERF, and paid leave days.

Requirements

Mandatory FBI fingerprinting background check and other HS requirements.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two-year college degree OR Passed ParaPro Assessment OR 48 credit hours of college level classes OR Childhood Development Associate certificate (CDA).
Kokomo School Corporation Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Certification.

Willing to obtain qualifications to be highly qualified if not already possessed.

Responsibilities

Providing coverage and monitoring groups of Head Start students on the bus, in the cafeteria, and in classrooms as needed.
Willing to learn and follow Head Start performance standards and state early childhood licensing requirements.
Ride bus daily to assist bus driver in supervision of children during bus routes to and from school.
Monitor Head Start students to ensure they follow bus safety rules.
Assist children in to and out of child safety restraints.
Participate in annual program self-assessment.
Attend Head Start mandatory trainings.
Maintain state and federal adult/child ratios.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
