About The Position

Michael Baker International’s Construction Services staff supports clients by acting as their trusted on-site agent through all phases of construction, from pre-design to close-out, by providing qualified construction managers, inspectors, constructability reviewers, schedulers, estimators, and safety experts. As new technologies evolve throughout the construction industry, innovative ideas are required to maintain and deliver successful construction projects. Michael Baker is seeking an Inspector to join the Construction Services team in Moon! This role involves field-based inspections to verify compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and applicable codes.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check
• U.S. citizenship, required
• 3+ years experience performing facility, construction, or infrastructure inspections
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs; walk job sites; and perform other physical activities associated with field inspections
• Strong knowledge of inspection procedures, quality control, and safety practices
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly

Responsibilities

• Perform spot inspections of facilities to assess condition, workmanship, safety, and compliance with established standards and requirements
• Conduct inspections on rail projects, including track, structures, stations, yards, or related infrastructure, as assigned
• Verify contractor work complies with plans, specifications, codes, and safety regulations
• Identify deficiencies, non-conforming work, and potential safety issues; document findings clearly
• Prepare inspection reports, field notes, and photographic documentation
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and client representatives regarding inspection findings
• Monitor corrective actions and follow up to confirm resolution
• Maintain accurate inspection records in accordance with project and client requirements
• Travel to multiple sites as needed to support inspection activities
