About The Position

Alpha Corporation is seeking a highly qualified Construction Inspector with strong experience in utility infrastructure and engineering-focused projects to support inspection, coordination, and construction management oversight for water, wastewater, and underground utility work. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding in utility construction inspection and infrastructure delivery. This person will also bring technical proficiency in water main and wastewater infrastructure installation, utility conflict, MOT coordination, trenching and backfill operations, erosion, sediment control, and support of wastewater treatment facility renovations. The inspector will work to ensure construction activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Must have experience with utility infrastructure inspection and construction management.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in utility construction inspection, construction management, or utility infrastructure project oversight.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily construction inspection and CM support for utility infrastructure projects including - water mains, wastewater systems, force mains, pump stations, utility relocations, and wastewater treatment facility improvements.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Monitor contractor work to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, safety requirements, permits, and applicable codes.
  • Inspect trenching, excavation, backfill, utility crossings, underground utility installation, pipe testing and site restoration activities to ensure proper construction methods and quality control procedures are followed.
  • Coordinate and monitor Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) activities to ensure traffic control measures are properly implemented and maintained during construction operations.
  • Support erosion and sediment control inspections and monitor compliance with environmental permits and stormwater management requirements.
  • Assist with construction administration tasks including daily inspection reports, quantity tracking, pay application support, RFIs, submittmits, schedule monitoring, and field issue documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, utility owners, municipal agencies, and project stakeholders to resolve field conflicts, utility coordination issues, and construction sequencing challenges.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide field input related to constructability, utility coordination, scheduling, and construction progress.
  • Review and document testing and quality assurance activities including pressure testing, leakage testing, compaction testing, CCTV inspections, and other utility-related testing.
