Inspector
About The Position
STV is seeking a Construction Inspector for our Transportation Northeast department in Hartford, CT. This role involves inspecting construction activities related to highway/bridges, facilities/buildings, or rail/transit projects. The inspector will ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, and regulatory requirements by reviewing and verifying contractor submissions. They will also identify and document nonconforming work, ensuring timely corrective action, and review project documentation such as RFIs, submittals, daily reports, and change orders. The position requires completing daily work reports with photographs and progress documentation, tracking and documenting quantities of work performed, and resolving construction problems and challenges in the field. Effective communication with project stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and agency representatives, is crucial for project success.
Requirements
- NICET Level 1 with 4 years of experience in construction engineering and inspection.
- Experience on transportation infrastructure projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of CTDOT CEI processes, contract administration, and construction documentation.
- Knowledge of construction materials and methods.
- Ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work on-site as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- Working knowledge of COMPASS and AASHTOWare Project
- NETTCP – Concrete Inspector, ACI – Concrete Certification, NETTCP – HMA Paving Inspector, NACE, AMP, or BCI – Coating Inspector, and ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor certifications.
