About The Position

The Inspector 3 (Sensors) 3rd Shift role at GE Aerospace is responsible for ensuring the quality of products through various inspection methods. This position utilizes manual or automated measurement and testing equipment to verify product conformance to design requirements. The role involves identifying and documenting non-conforming parts, maintaining inspection records, and inspecting raw materials and purchased parts. Inspectors are expected to use statistical process control techniques, adhere to internal process specifications and third-party requirements, and assist support functions in root cause analysis. Effective communication with the team regarding product deficiencies, new processes, or issues is crucial. This role operates with limited supervision and may involve manual setup, testing, and troubleshooting, including performance testing and trim grind. A comprehensive understanding of all inspection equipment within the department is required, along with the ability to keep shift operators informed of operational or setup issues. Cross-training other employees and completing labor tracking documentation are also key responsibilities. Inspectors are expected to report problems to the appropriate resource and proactively work to improve efficiency and quality. Participation in team initiatives, proper use of PPE, and adherence to safety procedures are mandatory. This role may also perform duties on more complex, prototype, or first-time builds, as well as final inspection and First Article inspections. Complex testing such as surge tests, dielectric tests, hipot, helium leak checks, ATP, and hardness testing may be required. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Education or GED equivalency.
  • 3 years’ inspection experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Ability and willingness to use hand tools and measuring devices (i.e. – optical comparators, ohm meters, leak check, CMM’s, dial calipers, rulers, tape measures, protractors, micrometers, gauges, etc.) as required within department.
  • Intermediate understanding of basic computer applications, such as Oracle and Microsoft applications.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain specific knowledge in one or more of the following disciplines (Electrical Inspection, Mechanical Inspection)
  • Intermediate understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation, including functional knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T);
  • Ability and willingness to pass visual acuity exam upon offer.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain Braze, Weld and Solder inspection certification as required.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize manual or automated measurement and testing equipment to assure quality of products.
  • Identify and document non-conforming parts, while using Oracle to maintain inspection records.
  • Inspect all raw materials and purchased parts to determine conformance to design requirement.
  • Use statistical process control and statistical quality control techniques as required.
  • Perform job responsibilities according to internal process specifications and third-party requirements.
  • Assist support functions in root cause analysis.
  • Communicate with team to ensure all team members are aware of product deficiencies, new processes, or issues.
  • Work with limited supervision.
  • Perform manual set up, test, and troubleshooting which includes performance testing and trim grind.
  • Complete understanding of operation of all inspection equipment within the department.
  • Keep all shift operators informed on special problems involving operation or set up.
  • Cross-train other employees as needed based upon knowledge and experience.
  • Compliantly complete all written and/or electronic labor tracking documentation.
  • Report problems to appropriate resource and/or Coach.
  • Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products.
  • Participate in and support team initiatives.
  • Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures.
  • Exemplifies and coaches’ others on the GE Leadership behaviors.
