About The Position

CED is well situated in Downers Grove, Illinois - we are located a commuter train ride west of Chicago and a short drive from farmland. The Inspector supports the Quality Control Supervisor and/or Quality Assurance Manager with all aspects related to control and inspection, involving but not limited to: Measuring parts with the appropriate and applicable measurement instrument, conducting visual inspection of parts per governing documents, and supporting compliance with customer specifications, internal quality system, regulatory requirements, and applicable laws.

Requirements

A high school diploma is preferred
2+ years of experience in a first-line quality function, e.g., auditing, quality systems coordination, or inspection
2+ years of experience in inspection activities in a regulated environment (i.e. AS-9100, ISO-9001, etc.)
Lawful permanent resident of the United States (ITAR restrictions)
Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for all employees of Chemring Energetic Devices
Ability to represent the Company positively and professionally through behavior, attitude and communication
Able and capable to interpret blueprints – GD&T
Able to pass a vision test (including color test)
Manual dexterity to manipulate delicate parts and instruments
Demonstrates proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, D365) with strong analytical and computational capabilities
Effectively handles fluctuating workloads in low/high volume and high mix operational settings

Responsibilities

Responsible for ensuring compliance with CED’s QMS
Responsible for following and complying with internal procedures, guidelines, and policies
Responsible for completing inspection activities per applicable documentation and requirements
Applies applicable measuring techniques with the support of measuring tooling (i.e. calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Records all required data in applicable forms and systems (i.e. D365)
Provides daily reports on completed jobs to supervision
Records inspection time in all applicable systems (Kronos, D365, etc.)
initiates and follows through on non-conformance reports (with the support of supervisor or manager) through closure
Supports the internal audits as required
Supports the corrective actions process as required
Support customer required test witnessing and Exam of Product functions
When delegated, witnesses test, prepare test reports, and acceptance data packages
Responsible for completing delegated activities under the guidance of the Chief Inspector or Quality Supervisor
Responsible for completing any other designated and/or delegated activities and responsibilities, directly or indirectly
Comply with government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Ensure 100% compliance with the Chemring Operational Framework, Code of Conduct and U.S. Code of Ethics and Business conduct
Special projects and additional duties as assigned
