About The Position

LyondellBasell is hiring an Inspector for the Victoria High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) site. This role is responsible for ensuring the ongoing reliability, cost-effective maintenance, safe operations, and continuous improvement of stationary equipment. The Inspector will manage the stationary equipment inspection program for the assigned unit and drive reliability programs such as Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI), Above Ground Storage Tanks Inspections (AST), Reliability Based Inspection (RBI), and Paint. This is a direct hire position with competitive pay and benefits.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2+ years relevant inspection experience in the refining, petrochemical or chemical process industries
  • Holds either an API-510 or API-570 certification
  • Knowledgeable of inspection and repair requirements in API, ASME, NBIC and state/local regulations (such as boiler codes/laws)
  • Knowledgeable of inspection techniques, performing API/CWI inspections and evaluating inspection results per industry codes and standards
  • Basic knowledge of damage mechanisms leading to equipment failure such as corrosion, erosion, chloride stress corrosion cracking, fretting, etc.
  • Ability to be certified in SNT-TC-1A Level 2 UT and PT
  • Experience as a certified API 510/570 inspector
  • The ability to work nights and weekends as required during outages and unplanned events.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all fixed equipment Mechanical Integrity activities meet or exceed corporate, local, and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs the majority of their own inspections in the field, using 3rd party support as needed/required.
  • Prioritizes work with planning/maintenance for stationary equipment to ensure continued reliable operation.
  • Serves as a proficient liaison for coordinating inspection activities with other workgroups within their designated areas.
  • Develops inspection plans, coordinates inspections, evaluates inspection results, develops run/repair/replace recommendations, tracks inspection findings/recommendations to closure, and keeps Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) evergreen.
  • Optimizes inspection plans to reduce inspection and maintenance costs.
  • Develops Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and performs Quality Assurance (QA) surveillance of stationary equipment repair work, as well as new fabrication to ensure compliance with the requirements.
  • Reviews film for QA of Radiographic Testing (RT) inspection on existing equipment repairs as well as new construction fabrication.
  • Report equipment deficiencies utilizing tools such as SAP and Meridium, and make recommendations regarding action to take.
  • Verify accuracy of predictions against shop follow up reports and KPI's.
  • Reviews welding procedures, procedure qualifications, and welder qualifications.
  • Develop inspection test plans for all on site welding.
  • Supports or leads special reliability projects such as Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI), Above Ground Storage Tanks Inspections (AST), Welding, Relief Valve inspections/repair and equipment coating restoration.
  • Proactively participates in the development and testing of new tools and applications in the inspection area.
  • Perform detailed inspection/corrosion monitoring studies to determine remaining life and inspection intervals, and help evaluate materials of construction selections.
  • Interact with personnel on surveillance and repair issues, including cathodic protection systems for tank bottoms, buried piping, and cooling water heat exchangers.
  • Proactively monitors technological developments in the NDE field and conducts tests to determine field of application.
  • Ensures all potential overdue inspection deferral forms are composed, submitted, and approved before the due date.
  • Monitor and keep track of steam leak repairs, steam trap failures and steam trap repairs.
  • Keep track of steam losses through spreadsheets to show savings and generate monthly reports.
  • Have ownership over steam by working with Planner/Schedulers to have worst leaks repaired first and having leaks repaired in a timely manner.
  • Lead and/or execute site building, structural, insulation and grating inspection program and repair including ACM abatement.
  • Adheres and supports OSHA/Site Management of Change (MOC) process.
