Responsible for gaining a working knowledge of and performing fire protection inspections and 24-hour service under direct supervision of an Inspection/Service Technician. This role involves assisting Inspectors with inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA codes. The trainee will develop knowledge of life safety and NFPA codes, fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, and their components. Responsibilities include performing testing and maintenance under supervision, differentiating between inspection deficiencies and service needs, understanding and following safety programs, and participating in safety meetings. The role requires attending training sessions, beginning the NICET exam cycle application, preparing for and testing for NICET certification, and ultimately passing NICET Level II certification in Inspection Testing & Maintenance of Water Based Fire Protection Systems prior to achieving "Inspector" status.
