Responsible for gaining a working knowledge of and performing fire protection inspections and 24-hour service under direct supervision of an Inspection/Service Technician. This role involves assisting Inspectors with inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA codes. The trainee will develop knowledge of life safety and NFPA codes, fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, and their components. Responsibilities include performing testing and maintenance under supervision, completing training documentation, differentiating between inspection deficiencies and service needs, and adhering to SFS’s Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies, and procedures. Participation in weekly Toolbox talks and understanding safety documentation are crucial. The trainee will attend Inspector training sessions to stay updated on technology and reporting methods, with a requirement to begin the NICET exam cycle application within the 3rd evolution of training, prepare for the NICET exam within the 4th evolution, and test for NICET Level II certification in Inspection Testing & Maintenance of Water Based Fire Protection Systems prior to achieving “Inspector” status.
