About The Position

The Inspector Packer is responsible for reading packaging documents, observing machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of products to standards, and performing various tasks related to packaging and inspection. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to identify defects, and the capacity to perform repetitive physical tasks accurately and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong (product jamming up under molding machine).
  • Ability to see details at close range (such as color swirls molded in contamination).
  • Ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness (White or Natural).
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movement of both arms, hands, and fingers to grasp, manipulate, or assemble small objects (install ¾” vents and push in fittings in line - 12 covers per minute).
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Ability to make fast, simple, repeated movement of the fingers, hands, and wrists (install plastic and or wire handles in pails).
  • Oral Comprehension
  • Written Comprehension (direction from packaging documents i.e. pack size C.W.L. location).
  • Ability to identify or detect differences among product such as flash, mold, contamination, under fill, etc.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately compare similarities and differences among product.
  • Ability to load/unload, or stack products.

Responsibilities

  • Read packaging documents to determine product specifications.
  • Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of products to standards.
  • Remove finished packaged items from the machine and separate rejected items.
  • Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a supervisor.
  • Stock and sort products for packaging or filling machine operation, and replenish packaging supplies.
  • Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material.
  • Clean and remove damaged or otherwise inferior materials to prepare raw products for processing.
  • Monitor the production line, watching for problems such as hazards, pile-ups, and product jams.
  • Stack finished packaged items, or wrap protective material around each item, and pack the items in cartons or containers.
  • Record operational data such as finished and rejected packaged items.
  • Package the product in the form in which it will be sent out.
  • Assemble corrugated shipping containers, trays, and boxes.
  • Perform final inspection of product, checking for de-nest, and counting covers for proper stack height.
