About The Position

This position is responsible for performing product inspections to determine conformance with specifications and packaging these products according to customer requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills (written & oral).
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to follow both written and verbal instructions and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to walk; stand for extended periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch and occasionally required to climb or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety procedures are followed at all times and immediately report unsafe working conditions or mechanical safety problems to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Understand the product line. Know the function of the product and any potential product defects that can adversely affect the function or application of the product.
  • Perform production verifications at the start of an order and each shift.
  • Perform the required visual inspections at the beginning of each shift and at the interval specified in the data acquisition software.
  • Immediately notify the Manufacturing Coordinator if any defects are found.
  • Utilize the data acquisition software to determine which gauging (if necessary) must be performed during the production run to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Keep accurate documentation in the data acquisition software during the production run.
  • Inspect parts on the conveyor belts and in product containers throughout the shift, and perform liner inspections as required.
  • If applicable, periodically check the glue tank level to ensure a proper supply of glue is available to the machine.
  • Properly package and handle the production per the assigned manufacturing specification.
  • Accurately record scrap and place the scrap in the proper containers.
  • Assist in the performance of machine startups, shutdowns and line clearances.
  • Keep machine downtime to a minimum.
  • Keep the workstation clean and neat at all times by utilizing good housekeeping practices.
  • Participate in Lean and Safety programs.
  • Follows applicable Food Safety and cGMP polices.
  • Assist in the training of fellow associates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
