About The Position

Intertek USA, Inc. is seeking an Inspector III, Petroleum to perform necessary volume measurements, temperature measurements, sampling, calculations, documentation, and reporting to ensure an independent, accurate, and complete assessment of material quantity and quality. This role involves performing duties according to specified methodologies, completing associated paperwork, and coordinating with various personnel to ensure smooth operations and timely reporting. The position also includes providing and receiving on-the-job training and monitoring supply availability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Chemical Engineering or closely related field and two (2) years of experience as an Inspector or related role.
  • Alternatively, no degree and four (4) years of experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in IFIA (International Federation of Inspection Agencies) certified procedures.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Ability to interpret and apply API MPMS Chapters 3, 7, 8, 11, 12 and 17, including temperature/volume correction factors, shore tank measurements, and custody transfer calculations.
  • Knowledge of Petroleum and chemical inspection procedures.
  • Training in Field Audit Assessments.
  • Experience with Dispatching and coordinating Company processing, operating systems and data systemization, such as Phoenix, C-Bis, Sample Manager, ICAM, etc.
  • TIC certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform volume measurement, temperature measurement, and sampling of commodity materials in lines, shore tanks, rail cars, tank trucks, and barges.
  • Conduct visual inspections on lines, pumps, manifolds, shore tanks, rail cars, tank trucks, and barges.
  • Perform custody transfer surveys of commodities transferred to and from rail cars, tank trucks, shore tanks, and barges.
  • Perform routine equipment calibration, verification, and function checks.
  • Verify and communicate results obtained, making entries into appropriate print or electronic media for validity and traceability.
  • Provide on-the-job training to less experienced Inspectors.
  • Provide on-the-job assistance and receive training from more experienced Inspectors.
  • Communicate and coordinate with terminal, transport, and company personnel to promote smooth exercise of duties.
  • Monitor the availability of supplies needed for processes and report needs to the Dispatcher or Coordinator.
  • Organize and coordinate jobs to ensure services are rendered and reports and samples are submitted in a timely manner.
