Requirements

  • Bachelor degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Chemical Engineering or closely related field and two (2) years of experience as an Inspector or related role.
  • Alternatively, no degree and four (4) years of experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience as IFIA (International Federation of Inspection Agencies) certified.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Ability to interpret and apply API MPMS Chapters 3, 7, 8, 11, 12 and 17, including temperature/volume correction factors, shore tank measurements, and custody transfer calculations.
  • Experience with Petroleum and chemical inspection procedures.
  • Experience with ASA surveys.
  • Training in Field Audit Assessments.
  • Experience in Dispatching and coordinating.
  • Experience with Company Operating systems including Phoenix, C-Bis, Sample Manager, ICAM, etc.
  • TIC certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform volume measurements, temperature measurements, sampling, calculations, and documentation to ensure an independent, accurate, and complete assessment of material quantity and quality.
  • Execute volume measurement, temperature measurement, and sampling of commodity materials in lines, shore tanks, rail cars, tank trucks, and barges.
  • Conduct visual inspections of lines, pumps, manifolds, shore tanks, rail cars, tank trucks, and barges.
  • Perform custody transfer surveys of commodities transferred to and from rail cars, tank trucks, shore tanks, and barges.
  • Perform routine equipment calibration, verification, and function checks.
  • Verify and communicate obtained results, making entries into appropriate media (print or electronic) to ensure data validity and traceability.
  • Provide on-the-job training to less experienced Inspectors.
  • Provide on-the-job assistance and receive training from more experienced Inspectors.
  • Communicate and coordinate with terminal, transport, and company personnel to ensure smooth execution of duties.
  • Monitor the availability of necessary supplies and report needs to the Dispatcher or Coordinator.
  • Organize and coordinate jobs to ensure timely service delivery and submission of reports and samples.
