About The Position

The Inspector II will interpret blueprints, sketches, process sheets, engineering specifications, and standards to perform inspections and ensure conformance to standards. This role requires the utilization of shop math and precision measuring devices for dimensional checks. The inspector will also set up and use standard and special gauges, verify gauging, inspect incoming materials, perform visual and metallurgical inspections, and check completed bearing assemblies for functional and operating characteristics. Additionally, the Inspector II will assist with the inspection of returned goods to verify customer claims.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a precision inspector in machine shop operations.
  • At least one year in inspecting bearings or similar high-precision products.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical gauging techniques.
  • Competency in basic arithmetic and the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Specific vision abilities include close and color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be either a US citizen, lawful permanent resident [“green card” holders] or have refugee or asylee status due to ITAR and EAR regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, process sheets, engineering specifications, and standards to perform inspections and ensure conformance to standards.
  • Utilize shop math and precision measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMM (if applicable) for dimensional checks.
  • Set up and use standard and special gauges, correcting faulty gauging techniques as needed.
  • Verify all gauging prior to completing dimensional checks on in-process or vendor-supplied parts.
  • Inspect materials received from vendors for conformance to specifications, cleanliness, structure, and hardenability.
  • Perform visual inspections for defects such as burrs, finish, and burns, and conduct metallurgical inspections as required.
  • Check completed bearing assemblies for functional and operating characteristics using standard and specialized test apparatus.
  • Assist with inspection of returned goods to verify customer claims of failure or rejection.
