About The Position

This work unit exists to ensure the safe installation and operation of boilers and pressure vessels by enforcing pertinent codes, statutes and regulations. This position serves as a fully operational inspector of new and existing boilers and pressure vessels; identifies specific statutory, regulatory and code violations; ensures that noted violations are brought to satisfactory resolution; and investigates boiler accidents to determine the cause and recommend corrective action to prevent a reoccurrence. Position exists to prepare the inspector to attend the National Board Inservice Commission school and take the National Board exam.

Requirements

  • Current, valid Colorado State certification or license in a trade related to the work assigned to the position
  • Four (4) years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position
  • Must be a Colorado resident at time of application.
  • You must pass a thorough background check prior to employment.
  • The person selected for this position must retain a valid Colorado Driver's License and will be asked to submit a Motor Vehicle report for verification.
  • This position will be required to drive Colorado Department of Labor & Employment vehicles and operate relevant equipment to perform job duties.
  • Successfully pass the Inservice Inspector Examination from the National Board of Boiler Inspectors within one year.
  • Professional experience specifically related to boiler operation, maintenance, installation or inspection
  • Technical decision making particularly in regard to compliance and regulatory codes.
  • Comprehension and application of rules, regulations, and codes related to duties.
  • Ability to communicate regulations and technical information to customers/stakeholders.
  • Self-motivating and detail oriented.
  • Effective overall communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in Google Workspace, MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience in HVAC, Boilers or Plumbing and Heating.
