About The Position

Inspector I performs basic inspection work in petroleum and petrochemical terminals and refineries. This role also involves inspection work on board barges and ships, adhering to industry standards and procedures published by API and Saybolt. The position requires performing visual cleanliness inspections of tanks, including entering confined spaces, and verifying the accuracy of measurement equipment. Inspectors must work safely in the presence of hazardous materials, take product measurements and samples, perform related calculations, complete required reports and forms, conduct inventories, and undertake non-petroleum or chemical inspection assignments. Additionally, they perform other inspection department duties as assigned by the Manager or Scheduler. The role demands adherence to procedural, safety, and quality requirements specified in Saybolt procedures manuals, the Global Safety Manual, and Core Laboratories/Saybolt company policies. Inspectors are also required to attend training and pass examinations in petroleum, chemical, and gas inspection procedures, including Right-to-Know training, hazardous materials transportation, and other required safety training. Gaining knowledge of basic and advanced laboratory procedures through cross-training in the laboratory is also part of the role.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent (general education degree).
• 2 years as an Inspector or related experience.
• Must have a vehicle in good, safe operating condition that can be used on the job for both personal and sample transportation in all ambient weather conditions.
• Vehicles used for sample transportation must be able to accommodate the secondary sample containers issued for sample transportation.
• Must maintain the proper levels of automobile liability insurance and meet all state requirements on vehicles used for Saybolt assignments.
• Must also maintain a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Local travel and occasional out-of-town assignments are required.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual cleanliness inspections of tanks including entering confined spaces
• Verify the accuracy of measurement equipment
• Work safely in the presence of hazardous materials as defined in the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheets
• Take product measurements and samples; accurately and promptly perform related calculations; complete required reports and forms clearly and promptly; perform inventories; do non-petroleum or chemical inspection assignments
• Perform other inspection department duties assigned by the Manager or Scheduler
• Exercise procedural, safety and quality requirements specified in Saybolt procedures manuals, the Global Safety Manual, and Core Laboratories/Saybolt company polices
• Attend training and pass appropriate examinations in petroleum, chemical and gas inspection procedures, including Right-to-Know training, hazardous materials transportation, and other safety training required by applicable regulations
