About The Position

The Inspector I inspects residential and commercial external plumbing systems that connect to sewer lines, ensuring compliance with governmental codes for materials and installation specifications. The role includes inspections of sewer connections and repairs, making necessary taps to sewer mains, and documenting inspection results and issues. The employee must be willing to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and 24-hour emergency on-call assignments.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
Ability to follow manuals and operating instructions.
Knowledge of process control techniques, maintenance procedures, and safety practices.
Ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs.
Ability to work with required tools, including a jackhammer and demolishing saw.
Comfort working in and around water and raw sewage.
Clear, professional communication and the ability to contribute to a positive internal and external customer experience.
Willingness to help others and maintain composure in challenging situations.
Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, appropriate escalation of issues, and quality checks of own work.
Ability to work well with supervision, complete projects, follow company policies and standard operating procedures, and manage multiple tasks.
Positive attitude, accountability for own performance, alignment with company vision, mission, and values, and willingness to take on additional assignments.
Ability to frequently lift 50–80 pounds; load, unload, and move large equipment and tools; access confined spaces; and continuously walk and climb stairs and ladders.
Willingness to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and 24-hour emergency on-call assignments.
Successful completion of background screening, drug testing, and driving record review where applicable, as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Inspect residential and commercial lines connecting to sewer lines for approved materials, specified pipe sizes, required grade, and bedding.
Make necessary taps to sewer mains for residential and commercial external-line connections.
Perform pre-site and final-site inspections on residential and commercial projects.
Inspect major repairs performed by subcontractors.
Submit work order requests for problems found during inspections.
Complete pass/fail notifications for grease trap inspections.
Perform other duties as assigned.
